World Wagyu conference heads to South Africa
World Wagyu Conference 2026 Set to Bring Global Industry Together in South Africa
Farmers from across the Warrendale Wagyu supply chain are being encouraged to consider attending the World Wagyu Conference 2026, with registrations now open for what promises to be one of the most important international Wagyu events in recent years.
Hosted by Wagyu South Africa on behalf of the World Wagyu Council, the conference will take place from 13–14 October 2026 in the Western Cape region of South Africa under the theme “One Breed – One Vision”. The event will bring together breeders, processors, researchers and industry leaders from around the globe to discuss the future of Wagyu genetics, production, marketing and international collaboration.
The main conference venue will be Cavalli Estate near Stellenbosch, approximately 45 minutes from Cape Town, with organisers promising a programme focused on innovation, breed integrity and global market opportunities for Wagyu producers. Delegates will also have access to a wider itinerary of farm visits, technical tours, social events and regional excursions running from 11–17 October.
For British farmers involved in the Warrendale Wagyu and British Wagyu Association network, the event represents a valuable opportunity to see how Wagyu production systems are developing internationally while strengthening relationships across the global industry.
The British Wagyu Association has confirmed it is working alongside Field Farm Tours Ltd to support UK participation in the South Africa trip, with strong interest already expected from British Wagyu breeders and Warrendale supply chain farmers. South Africa has become an increasingly important player within the international Wagyu sector, combining commercial beef expertise with expanding Wagyu breeding programmes and strong export ambitions. The conference is expected to showcase both fullblood and crossbred production systems alongside advances in feeding, genetics and premium beef marketing.
The World Wagyu Council conference rotates between major Wagyu-producing nations and is regarded as one of the leading international gatherings for the breed. Previous conferences have attracted delegates from Australia, Japan, the United States, Europe, South Africa and South America.
The timing of the event also comes during continued growth for the British Wagyu sector. The British Wagyu Association now represents more than 850 members with annual Fullblood and Crossbred registrations exceeding 45,000 cattle, highlighting the increasing influence of British Wagyu production both domestically and internationally.
For Warrendale Wagyu farmers, the South Africa conference offers an opportunity not only to network with international breeders but also to gain practical insight into premium beef markets, carcass performance, sustainability and future consumer trends — all areas becoming increasingly important as demand for high-quality beef continues to evolve.
The conference follows shortly after the Warrendale Wagyu & British Wagyu Conference, which was held in Kelso in the Scottish Borders on 13–14 May, which gave a taste of some of the discussion points that will be covered at the event in South Africa in October.
