Shropshire Producer Open Day
A great day was had by all who attended our second Wagyu Producer Open Day in Shropshire on the 6th of October! Ian Nixon and son Will kindly hosted the event on their family farm in Market Drayton. It was a chance for potential new farmer partners to see first-hand how the Warrendale Wagyu Scheme can fit into a farming system and the benefits it has upon a dairy farming unit. The family run a herd of 350 Procross cows (Holstein, Montbeliard / Viking Red three way cross) and followers on their 600-acre family farm. They are on a Muller Tesco contract and serve up to 65% of the herd with Wagyu semen on the Warrendale Scheme. All Wagyu's are moved on to our rearers as calves between 2-4 weeks.

Upper Farm is a mixture of arable and grassland where they have changed their breeding policy which has enabled them to reduce their replacement rate, selling surplus heifers at point of calving, resulting in a more profitable business.
